Cruise Control Malfunction

Hi guys. I was recently at a gas station filling up, had my car in manual (stick pushed to left). I accidentally hit the cruise set button and got a "cruise control malfunction" message. I turned the car off, then back on, hit the button again but didn't receive the error. Has anyone experienced this? I haven't tried cruise control yet on the highway as I'm at work.

Yes! I experienced the cruise control malfunction issue a few times recently at random intervals, it's gone now.

Weird.

I wonder if it's anything to do with the BMW Connected Drive?

Hmm, interesting. The only thing I did recently is code EBT to stream Bluetooth Audio and get Office functionality, both have been working flawlessly without issue.

It might have just been telling you that you can't use cruise while parked.

That would be a relief. Is that something the car would actually do?

I wouldn't be surprised. It should be done with a better method, though...like Don Rickles voice saying 'You hockey puck, what do you think you're trying to do, set your speed at zero?'

I had the same issue, I brought it up during normal service at the dealership and was told it was a known issue. They replaced the control unit on the steering wheel (under warranty) and haven't had an issue since.

Installing a "Stork" is not going to do much unless you already have the necessary harness connections and the rest of the cruise control hardware/software installed. Even then, I'm sure coding would be required.

You may get better response on the E90 forum.
