BFG Comp-2 to Comp-2 A/S

So when I bought my used 2012 335is, the Ford Dealer had just installed BFG Comp-2 Tires. I thought they looked aggressive and had no reason to change out brand new tires.

17,000 miles later the rears were almost down to the bars so I started looking at replacing the rears. Especially with all the rain SW Florida has received the last week.

Anyway, the Comp-2's were decent but loud and rode a little rough especially considering that we do have good roads down here. So, I looked at the new Comp-2 A/S and decided to buy 2 to replace the rears.

Wow, what a difference!!! These tires are sticky and wet traction is much better than the Comp-2's. Ride is improved and talking about quiet, these tires are night and day different that the older Comp-2's. I know it's not fair to compare older tires to newer tires but I never realized how much quieter my car rides with the change of tires. I have always had Road Noise since I bought the car, now it is nearly void of such. Once the fronts are done, it should be perfect.

FYI, I also did plus 1 on the size, now running 265-35-18's on the rear and will upgrade the fronts plus 1 maybe two. Car seems to ride better with a little bigger tire under there. They are Fat too, LOL...

Just thought I would add a Tire Review on here since I see very few.

I will update this after a few more miles and once the fronts are done.

Agree with your assessment completely.

I bought a set a few months ago almost on impulse because I had put on M3/1M front control arms and the car rode like an old truck. Took about a week to realise I had to pitch the run-flats. And they were on a promotion at the time.

The reviews showed they weren't going to be a Michelin PSS or equivalent, but, looked pretty good in testing. Some forum members commented they were lousy tires after I got them based on experience with older BFG's of a similar type.

I've been very pleased with them overall. Also, I've driven in serious rain across Louisiana on I-10 and they are great in the rain. I can't comment on how long they will last as I haven't put a lot of miles on the car.

At Road Atlanta recently I had a chance to drive late model Mustangs with Conti DWS06 and the BFG Comp-2 A/S back-to-back. The BFG was without question a much better tire from a handling standpoint. The Conti required higher slip angles making it very sluggish on turn-in, and it plowed much easier and simply felt mushy everywhere on course. Switching to the BFG was a substantial change -- much more responsive, easier to tell what the front tires were doing and when you were approaching their limits, and the tail was easier to rotate on corner entry using heavy trailbraking. I was very impressed with the BFG Comp2 A/S for an all-season tire.

Looking for a little more distance out of my tires as well as suitable noise levels and definitely need a good RAIN Tire down here.

These are doing really well in the rain, heavy rain and deep standing water I should say...
