Engine Cover Removal HELP!
Hey guys;
I feel stupid asking this, but how do you remove the plastic engine cover of the M235i? I just got a JB+ and wanted to install it. In order to get to the TMAP sensor I believe the engine cover has to be removed. I did a YT search on BMW engine cover removal and it showed the cover is screwed on. My engine cover has no screws. I tried to pull it off but it's on tight. Any help, illustrations, etc would be appreciated. |

Start at the front. Do you happen to have speakers at home with removable grilles? If you do pop one off and look at it. There's a hole with a rubber ball that pressure fits in. The engine cover is the exact same thing just slightly beefier.

Drivers side middle there is the throttle body just below is the sensor you want. I used a panel clip tool to release the clip from the front as the release tab is very small.

The diagram on Burger instructions looks different than what I see in my engine bay. I will put the cover back on and see if I can see the sensor you're describing.

Thanks for confirming the sensor in my 2nd pic. I can't get the damn connector off, even with a small screw driver. I have a friend that's an Audi mechanic. Maybe he has a tool for this.

are you sliding the screw driver under the clip at the front of the connector (sensor side not the back where the wire come out)? A small flat head under the clip and the wiggle the connector out. Make sure to leave the screwdriver under the clip while removing it.

Thanks Redmoe I will try again tomorrow when there is daylight.
BTW I snapped the engine cover back on. Is it normal that the front right side has a little play in it if u lift it lightly with your fingers? I didn't test how it felt prior to removing it. I'm fairly certain all 4 pegs are back in place. |

I always had a hard time getting the connection around the big rubber ring as well. |

Guys, I was finally able to get that damn connector off to install the JB+ installed today. Took it for a test drive and it does seem to give a nice little boost. I'm sure as the car adapts I will feel it even more. Nice relatively easy mod and now my M235i is faster than a stock M240i

Thanks Redmoe.
So just for clarity, JB+ Factory setting +3PSI product produces: wHP: +35 wTQ: +45 If you want to translate this to engine HP and TQ increases do you add 15%? SO a stock M235i: HP: 320 -----> 360 w JB+ TQ: 330 ----> 380 w JB+ Is this correct? |
