F30 replacement size

Anybody heard yet whether the G20 (F30 replacement) will be bigger again than the current car, or is that a silly question!? The F30 for me is already slightly longer than I'd like and with no forthcoming genuinely 'compact' RWD BMW in the offing I'm a little concerned I may have to reluctantly look elsewhere!!

If only BMW would buck the trend and keep it exactly the same length (or even slightly shorter) but I guess they will want it to have more trunk space & rear legroom than the competition... why do manufacturers insist on doing this?..... $$$$$$$$$$ I guess!

Read somewhere it'll be 1 inch longer wheelbase and 2 inches longer overall.

Seeing you drive a 340i today maybe a M140i would suit your needs? 4 doors, decent boot, straight 6, RWD. I don't think it gets more compact and RWD than this, even if you look elsewhere.

I won't be changing for around 2 years, by which time the 1 series will be FWD!! Although I guess there will be a few nearly new M140i's around then, so that would be a possibility! I've never considered the 1 series to be a particularly well balanced design, though the facelift did help the front end to look far better certainly. Maybe they'll find a magical way to make the new FWD 1er handle like a RWD car!!
