Why don't they import cool cars to the US!
So my 06 Audi S4 wagon STANDARD SHIFT is over 100k miles and articles like the one below scare me to death. http://jalopnik.com/if-you-don-t-hav...yth-1694816647 So there is literally no new car that can replace it. They stopped importing them in the Avant variant in 07 STANDARD SHIFT. If I could buy an RS4 Avant I would beg, barrow and steel for the money to get one. Looked at BMW 328i's wagons, A4 Avants and it's not the same. I need a wagon with some badassary. If they made an M3 wagon I'd be all over it. I've herd roomers that they will be bringing the s4 avant in 2018. But than I read an article that said they will only be offering them in automatic. (no thanks) What is a girl to do. Any suggestions? guess I'll just keep the old s4. Thanks Last edited by 1M SUSI; 06-15-2017 at 02:11 PM.. |

To some extent cars aren't being imported into the USA, but the larger issue is that they are not being made anymore, the type of cars that driving enthusiasts without several hundred thousand dollars to spend can afford. This is why I decided to buy all the rest of the cars I will buy for the rest of my life, during the last couple of years. So I have a modest stable of cars and hopefully at least one of them will last until I am completely senile, tied to a wheelchair, and peeing on myself in a nursing home.

So I guess I answered my own question. Keep the old S4. All this new stuff is lame. |

I was just in Germany and I couldn't believe the number of cool cars I saw there - most in manual (although there were a decent amount of autos). The coolest thing for me was that Uber X is always available and most of the cars we had were Range Rovers and Benz E classes (again, Uber X).

I think they need to try again with the estates in NA...I would have jumped on my 340i as a wagon if I could have gotten it in a 6spd or even with the 40i rather than just 28i

I never considered a mini but It's sure it's worth taking a look. My father had a clubman with MT and it was fun. Still wouldn't have the grunt of my V8 but thanks for the suggestion. Now as for the Panamera GTS? $$$. Not to be mean to Porsche but they just look hideous. No ugly p-car for me. |

How about the Cadillac CTS-V wagon? I think it was produced for years 2011-2014. It isn't imported but it comes with 556hp and a standard manual transmission:

I remember hearing that the take rate for manuals was quite high. That actually makes sense when you figure the kind of person who would buy a 556 hp CTS-V wagon is much more likely to be a "save the manuals" type of person vs. a regular car buyer - or even a performance car buyer.
According to this article from Autoblog (link below), there were 509 manual transmission CTS-V wagons sold since 2011. The article says the total number of CTS-V wagons was 1,767, but other sources put the number at 1,386. So the % of manuals is likely in the 29-37% range. The same Autoblog article states that the % of manuals was highest in 2014 (35.4%) and never fell below 27% in any year of production. http://www.autoblog.com/2014/11/26/c...-wake-feature/ If you can find one in Stealth Blue, you'd have a rare car, indeed. |
