Optional brake coverage from bmw?
when I picked up my 340i with track pack the dealer offered a plan from bmw to cover brakes for 3/36 (and wiper blades! Woohoo).
I know bmw no longer covers brakes, so I am trying to determine if it is worth it to get... My question is...for those with msport brakes, how many had to have at least two corners done within the first 3 years? And how much does it cost? (I'm assuming msport more expensive than regular.) The coverage is $600, no deductible, parts labor etc, no limit on how many uses. If a full brake job is $1800 (my guess), maybe it's worth it! I remember getting at least one set of brakes done on my e92 under the old coverage. Thanks for any advice you have.

This is the wear and tear coverage that used to be included. It may be worth it but maybe go for 4 year 50k that is what it used to be to match the warranty.

No options... Just 3/36. Thanks for the idea though... Hopefully some others will share their experiences with the brake life

It's mileage and driving style that impacts brake wear. I would pass on it since unless you're constantly tracking the car or driving like a hooligan all the time there's really no reason why you'd need new brakes at 36k miles.

I'm at 77,000 miles and am still using my M Sport Brake Option rotors and F80 M3 pads and OE M Sport Brake Option pads. This also includes a few track events as well. |

waste of money. If you arent going to track the car, you arent going need much in the way of brake service in 3/36. If you are tracking the car, the last fucking thing you want is OEM BMW pads and service. So this is seriously just pissing money away.

Thanks all.
i do think it's interesting that you are getting such good life out of your brakes this generation, especially the msport upgrades. I never track, and drive enthusiastically but not crazy, and yet I know I had all four corners done within the coverage on my e92 (I actually think fronts were done twice.)perhaps they were more aggressive in replacing them since they were covered?
