335is loud turbo spool?

So I bought my 335is awhile ago and ever since I got it I have noticed the loud turbo spool but thought it was a normal thing for the 335is. I test drove 2 different 335is yesterday with a friend and I couldn't hear the spool from them.

Do you think something has been done on my car to make it louder? Or is it supposed to be loud even though I didn't hear it on the other 2 335is?

Video here

That does not sound like downpipes. That sounds like the thrust bearings in the turbos going. It could also be the wastegates not sealing properly.

Is the car burning oil at all?

Shoot another video AFTER THE CAR IS FULLY WARMED UP with the hood raised and have someone poke the throttle. Turn the AC off when you do it so we have a bit less fan noise to try and listen through.

I have not lost any power. My car is actually faster than a stock 335is.

Your turbo spool is louder than usual. But open your air filter box. Chances are you may have a drop in aftermarket filter. My car is stock except the drop in filter and the turbo spool is audible but not as loud as yours.

Right on the turbos, check where the intake duct hooks up to the turbo. The picture below shows the piece i'm talking about. The left end of this duct connects to your air box, the right side of it connects to your rear turbo. This plastic piece is between the firewall and the engine, and there is another one going between the engine and the radiato. The piece connecting to the turbo came loose on mine a while ago and made the turbo spool sound much louder.

If you can get at the turbo inlets without too much drama I'd check the play on the spindles. It sounds like they may have been hit hard before the car was properly warmed up and that is death to the thrust bearings. If you have play, your turbos are likely going to need a full rebuild.

My ear tells me those turbos are on their last legs. Once you get shaft play it's only a matter of time till they take themselves out.

Will definitely check that out

If this was loose would it cause power loss or just sound?

Wouldn't I be experiencing loss in power if the thrust bearings are bad? This is my first turbo car so I'm not too familiar with that. Good thing I have a warranty in case my turbos take themselves out !
