Just picked up a 2017 f30 was looking to do a ecu flash/upgrade. What's the best flash available? New to the f30 was previously in an E46 m3

Don't think there's a ECU flash for BMW B-engines

Do you have a 340 or 330? Unless you're looking to do a lot of other bolt-on modifications, the few flash tunes out there are not just for a quick HP bump. That, and you'll have all manner of grief from your dealership when taking it in for routine maintenance or any issue that might arise from the flash tune. You should probably consider one of the "piggyback" add-on tuners, as they're easily removed. Not even Dinan makes a flash tune for the N55/B58 or N20/N26/B46 engines any more.

It's 340 and it's a lease so I would want something the dealer ship isn't going to notice

Then you'd best go with a piggyback that you can remove. They'll know if a flash tune has been downloaded - plus, if for some reason they have to re-flash the stock BMW software to an updated version, your flash tune will be overwritten. This happened to me twice on my previous E92 335i. Fortunately, the dealer re-flashed my Dinan tune each time.

The encryption in the F3x DME software is much more complex than in the E9x series, which is why Dinan finally went to a piggyback device. Bootmod 3 has evidently cracked the code after 4 years, and they will do "custom" tuning. Problem is, you have to send them your DME, and your car is down while that's all taking place. That, and their tunes are primarily for cars with additional mods like a catless downpipe, bigger turbo, free-flow exhaust, etc.

Burger Tuning and Dinan both have a new device that attaches just to the TMAP sensor (easily reached) and provides up to 4+ PSI of additional boost. About a 30 HP/50 TQ gain. Installs in 5 minutes after the car is in "sleep" mode where the key is out of range and it's been shut down for 20+ minutes. Dinan's costs $299 and the boost setting can be changed via an IOS/Android app, while Burger's is $199 and is manually adjustable.
