BMS filter kit....
There has been some disagreement on whether this filter kit would make power, and also if it would hold up after hundreds of miles of driving.
Here are some before pics.... (0 miles) Here are some pics after 2500 miles of hard driving (JB2H/JB2HH/JB2HR) As you can see there is NO cavitation (as some put it) and it has held up very well. My filter kit probably gets dirty quicker since I have scoops helping get more cold air into the engine bay. Here are some dynos showing the power increase given by the filter. Notice there is no change in boost PSI in these tests.... From BMS: http://www.burgertuning.com/images/filterdyno.jpg From a PROcede user using the same map each time (Thanks to stillclaimndp): http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1059 BMS suggests vaccuming the filter off every 3-5k miles and using a K&N every 10-20k depending on your driving conditions.... Hope this sheds some light onto this misconception....

I still think it heasoaks and makes less power after driving it hard and higher temps.

regardless of all/any dyno results, theres no way in hell a fan or any amount of fans can ever capture the true airflow of physically driving the car at 10-20-x mph...
Having said that....a dyno is prob. the 'closest' thing to real world results we can have.... |

I for one like the filter. I just wish it had some sort of heat shield. For $130 you can't go wrong unless you want to do the dual cone intakes which would work almost the same. I don't believe in spending $500 for the CAI even if it does look pretty. If the CAI dropped price then maybe I would reconsider.

The 6 dyno pulls cost more than the filter kit lol... I might be switching to dual cone filters soon to see if that yields further gains and to get away from the turbos fighting for the same air (someone said this had a separation in it which was part of my decision in buying it).

The BMS filter kit is nice, Had it in my car for about 3 weeks, my respect to e90AW335i for the install, it has been great no problems even took a nice road trip with it, it was about 600 miles round trip and had no issues or problems...great product..and I couldn't feel any power loss.

Didn't somebody do a comparison of several filters including Terry's and conclude the difference between them and stock didn't amount to a bucket of warm spit?

Take it off and use a K&N recharging kit. The kit is like $10 at autozone.
