New 2018 440i build
Pros and cons to adding Msport brakes or Adaptive M suspension? Daily driver, will not use on a track. Worth it? BTW: I was told this car will have the new digital instrument cluster and the build was accepted today. |

Are you sure you're not going to regret ordering an F30 less than nine months before the new G20 is revealed?
But to answer your question, I have both of those options and if I had to pick one, I'd get the adaptive suspension. Honestly, I have no idea what benefit I gain from the M Brakes...and neither would you if you don't plan to track it.

I think a lot of the reason why it's hard to tell is that even though you can select a "mode" it's ALWAYS adapting to the road surface. The modes just tell the system what you're looking to emphasize. Either way, even in Sport, if the car senses that you're just cruising down the highway at a constant speed, it's going to soften it up a little. Conversely, even in Comfort, if you start tossing it around, it will increase the damping to come extent. I'm glad I have DHP (Adaptive), but I wouldn't classify it as a must-have vs the standard Sport suspension on a RWD car. It is however important on an AWD setup if you have any sporting intentions.

Adaptive suspension is great on the convertible. Definitely worth getting. There is a big difference between sport and comfort setup. I use this a lot, for example when just cruising put in in comfort. Or when the roads aren't as good and I am driving quickly, I will set the throttle response to sport but the suspension to comfort and the car absorbs the road wonderfully. Then on good roads, put it into sport |

I have both and would probably want both on any future xDrive vehicle. If I absolutely needed to pick one, I would get the adaptive m suspension because the car gets more personality when switching between drive modes. Even if you're not tracking it, the m-sport brakes have been good in regular driving conditions as well - especially with the need to stop on a dime. If you do get the M-sport brakes, be prepared to have an endless supply of brake-dust on your rims though....

On a separate note, the new digital instrument cluster is optional. Make sure you've checked that box!

Thanks for the advice. It is a 440i xdrive convertible so I appreciate the advice related to the xdrive.
I did get the new digital instrument cluster. This is the first week the dealer said they would be available. I've been delaying my build to get this. In the past, I have had upgraded brakes but with my driving patterns I didn't think it was worth the price on this build. I've decided to get the adaptive M suspension based on the advice here. I also am getting the MPPSK based on advice in this forum. Thanks to everyone in advance. |

Definitely getting the MPPSK.
Just added the adaptive M suspension to the build. I don't think I'll get the ROI with the upgraded M sport brakes |
