How important are the side clips on an E9X rear bumper cover?

Had to replace my rear bumper cover on my E92. I bought a used one in 'excellent condition'. I go to swap them over and those side rail clips that break if you don't slide the bumper away backwards when removing are broken. 3/4 on each side are damaged. Is this going to be an issue? I know it's not ideal but if they still work I could do without the hassle of returning and finding another.

The bumper may not align properly when it is pushed into place, it will probably protrude slightly from where it meets the rear quarter
