Steering Wheel Badge Wonky!

I thought the top stripe on my steering wheel was off centre, but I have now realised that the BMW badge is rotated a couple of degrees clockwise!

Does anyone else have this? And is the badge removable or is it stuck to the airbag?

It does looks a couple of degrees off, now that you know it's there it'll do your head in . Badge is just stuck to the airbag housing with adhesive as a few people have replaced it with the black/carbon badges.

Might be better buying a new badge for it in case the adhesive doesn't go back on well.

Do the carbon ones replace it or just stick over the top?

Haven't done it myself but on looking at the listings it would appear that they just go over the top.

Might get one of them and stick it on straight!

Hi. Saw on Facebook that steering wheel is heated. Was it so already or could you "upgrade" for £155 with a swap?

No it is an exchange so they require the same type in return.

You could just buy a heated wheel off ebay then send it off. You would of course need other bits to complete the retrofit.

I've seen examples of M branded rims where the roundel was off alignment with the M Badge by more than a few degrees.

The QC in the airbag factory is obviously not great! I wonder if they're made by Takata!

Tim, sorry to hijack your thread and pester you again but can I just ask, what did you use to remove the airbag from your wheel? And any tips of how best to remove the airbag, angle of screwdriver etc?

Thanks

I used a flat head screwdriver, go in at 2 o'clock from the left and 10 o'clock from the right. Turn the screwdriver if it doesn't connect with the spring.

I'd be wary of using non-genuine badges, they may not function as they're supposed to should the airbag go off. Last thing you want is a solid piece of plastic/metal flying at your face at 120mph or whatever they go off at.

The colour seems to look washed out compared to mine unless its the quality of the pictures, is it OEM?

Do you know what, for the first few miles it really did and I thought oh shit I've made a mistake here! But by the next day I don't notice it at all anymore!
