Interesting read but I'm left scratching my head. Why do they never test the 340 with thp they always use a basic 340 and compare it to a c43 which I thought competed with the m3.

340i traps 109 mph, fastest of the bunch in this particular comparison. In other words, it's the overall fastest car here.

Let's be honest, none of them are bad. If you are looking for a sedan and can find one the leftover C450 AMG is the same damn thing and can be had for a serious discount.

Not sure what you mean? 0-62mph is the std metric 0-60. The time is whatever they got, no problem as long as the other cars are driven the same way since its a comparison.

Was it 0-60 or 0-60 with one foot of rollout (like how Car and Driver and most other magazines do it)? The foot of rollout usually accounts for about .3 seconds. What tires were involved? What was the temperature? What RPM was it launched from? Was traction control on? RWD or xdrive? 8AT or 6MT? Most drivers won't get anywhere near the Car and Driver 0-60 times unless they replicate the same conditions used to get the C&D time. Even when doing everything right, little changes in each run can add a couple seconds to the time, while being imperceptible to the driver. I tested this when I got my car, I had runs that felt fast at over 6-7 seconds, and runs that felt slower at 5 seconds (6MT). The S4 also has a proper sports diff and AWD standard, so there's that to consider too. |
