Is my rotors toast? (with pics)

My steeringwheel is shaking alot when breaking light/medium hard around 110-70km/h. Wheelbearings, thrust arms are brand new rims and tires have been checked and re-checked.

After som googling it looks like my front rotors have alot of uneven brake deposits can this make the steeringwheel shake during breaking at certain speeds only? Replaced rotors and pad only 400~ miles ago ;/

I had the same problem with my front brake, uneven deposit creating pulsation in steering wheel. First, it happen during the warranty period. The dealer replaced the front rotors and pads. Two years later, same problems again but without warranty. I then replaced myself the rotors with Zimmerman and pad with Akebono Euro.

No more shaking. I do not know if it will return or not, but so far so good.

The BMW OEM pads on my car prior changing to Akebono were:
Front: Jurid 208ff
Rear: Textar

A dingleberry honer for rotors? Hmm...interested in hearing the results on this one. I imagine the success of such device would greatly vary and end up being highly dependent on the type of pad compound stuck on the face of the rotor to begin with.

They might be toast. Ill assume your shaking gets MUCH WORSE when hard braking from high speed? I just replaced my fronts with zimmerman Z coat plus new pads for $188 and its a great feeling to no longer shake while stopping. PM me if you're interested in exactly what i bought. Also, theres a chance you didn't put everything back together perfectly. Take everything back off and scrub clean any metal parts that meet. I have extended bolts go through the wheel, the 15 mm spacer, the rotor, then into the hub. Use anti seize, and put them back in a star pattern. Crank down with a breaker bar in the same pattern. You may want to check the tightness of all the bolts that connect the caliper to the wrap around mount. The caliper can move considerably if you didn't reinstall the spring clip as well. Use a caliper tool to measure your rotors all the way around.
