Radiator Fan
Hi guys, been a long time since posting. Wifes car has been running great up until yesterday.
I noticed AC was not coming out cold only when moving. Long story short, car gave me yellow overheating symbol, i pulled over. While idling with AC on car went to red overheating symbol minutes later. I shut the car down and let it sit for 15 minutes. I checked for any visible leaks or coolant smells, nothing. I started the car up without the AC and drove it home no issues. I then started to diagnosis and go thru the steps. I ran the codes and sure enough, 2EFF Electric fan, self diagnosis. Where to go from here, Ive done my research somewhat. I know it can be 3 things. 1. Coolant Temp Sensor 2. Aux fan switch (is this not the same thing as above?) 3. The fan itself How do I go about checking the fan unit itself, unplug and check voltage going in and also if possible 12v source into the fan itself to see if it turns. If no 12v source into fan then what? Also if fan does not turn with 12v source makes sense to replace fan. Any input on how to diagnosis this is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced. |

Just to follow up, Wife drove the car to work without the AC with no issues. Car did not overheat. This leaves me to assume
1. Water pump is not the issue, I really need to see if my scanner will run a radiator fan test |

Water pump and thermostat was just replaced and my fan will kick on and off by itself but the car still getting the same codes as you? Did you ever end up fixing this problem?
