330i trans software on 328i

Just wanted to give a shout out to BimmerGeeks! on here for my recent transmission software update on my automatic transmission.

I was having issues with the way my car drove and contact him/her/them about updating my DME and transmission. Got the cable super quick and they even did the coding on the 4th. BimmerGeeks was in and out within a half an hour.

We found my DME to be up to date but the transmission had an update available. BimmerGeeks suggested I flash the 330i trans file and had stated someone else has had success, that it wouldn't damage the car, and might help get rid if my torque error I was getting causing the car to cut power.

Right away I noticed the car had more torque under 2k rpm's in "D". Its not much but it is noticeable. I haven't noticed much difference in "DS" but the computer keeps the rpm's higher in that mode anyways.

I have a tune from BPC and this trans tune compliments it very well. If you have an auto and a tune I would highly suggest shooting BimmerGeeks a PM.

I still enjoy driving the e46 more but now my work car isn't such a dull ride.

I sense way too much stress.

Bimmergeaks has been known to be really helpful to polite and contributing members of this forum. It's even possible the this install was a development project for him.

If you are truly worried about the cost. You can flash the software yourself, for free. Everything you need is available on the forums. Just ask nicely and someone usually steps in and gives you a write up or will otherwise point you in the right direction.

You can't use a regular KDCAN to flash the GM trans. It WILL fail leaving you stranded. You'll need our Pro cable or an icom to successfully flash it..

And too rjahl point, it's ZB 7587776 in the GM1912 Ecu family for anything that wants to flash it. But to repeat, do NOT flash it with a standard cable.
What is the different between the software of the 330i and the latest factory software for the 328i GM trans?

Thanks for posting this ... I just flashed the BPC tune and was wondering how the 330i trans tune worked with the BPC.

That seals it ... contacting BimmerGeeks is next on my 'to-do' list.

Cheers!

While the 328/euro 330i files are for GM trans which he hasn't been "cracking", he's been cracking the ZF trans for the N52 cars...Id imagine the differences would be similar between the GM 328/euro 330i as they would between the ZF 325/330 & 3.0/3.0si files.

I wouldn't recommend flashing to it unless you have a 3 stage manifold & tune already for the engine. The whole point of the flash is to get your trans flashed with a file that was designed to more closely match your engine output...
With the ZF boxes, the main difference between the high output and low output N52 transmission tunes are with the torque converter absorption maps, Small changes in the shift points, a few minor changes in the torque converter lock up values in the mid range.

And of course the map for engine torque is different.

BMW usually puts a different final drive on these engine packages so that detail that alone will change some of these values.

Shift times and pressures are the same along with 98% of the other maps and constants.

I don't see any harm trying the 330 map on a stock 328, It's not going to harm anything but it could feel a little "doggy" in the lower RPMs. Please follow BimmerGeeks advice and use the correct flashing cable.

There are about 4,300 maps and constants in the ZF6HP19 calibration file.

I feel the torque map the most in low to mid range rpm's. I haven't really noticed the shift points changing but I usually don't pay attention when in "D".

Do you think it'll work with the GM tranny?

Nice! I'll have to look into it when I get home next year. I'm a Mac user will you still be able to remotely flash my transmission?
