The differences between N52 and N51 pistons

Ever wondered what's different between a N51 and a N52 rod/piston? As you can see the connecting rod on the N52 assembly is much thicker. The N52 also has less chamfer on the piston head edge to give the engine higher compression. Just thought this would be interesting to share with the community since its not everyday you see these 2 pistons side by side.

Interesting pictures. These are much appreciated.

Does anyone know of similar pics of S54/N54 rod/pistons? Would love to compare the 3/3.2 liter differences.

Nice! Surprising the Ross are so much thinner given the same output.

Does the N52 have a thicker/taller 1st ring land? I mean from the top ring to the top piston edge.

No there is just more chamfer on the edge of the piston so at that angle it makes it appear that the N52 Piston has a larger thicker first piston ring land.
