Experience with getbmwparts.com

Any of you have experience with ordering from them? I'm thinking of getting the MPPSK from them, it looks like I'd save about $300-$600, depending on how much BMW charges for shipping. For some reason, the part number they have doesn't match BMW's part number, but it looks like the same thing. Also, how did you guys get it installed, through the dealer or through independent shop and if independent, how did they get the ECU flash, were they an authorized BMW repair shop? How does this affect warranty coverage and how were you able to get MPPSK covered by your insurance?

I ordered my MPPK from them. Very fast shipping, they're a BMW dealership that sells online so any part you get from them is covered under warranty. They will send you a red envelope with the code, all you do is take your car to the dealership and ask them to flash your car to the MPPK, charged me about $100 to flash. MPPK should not affect warranty since it is a BMW product. In terms of insurance I did not find it necessary to claim it.

Cool, thanks for the info! How much did the dealership you installed it at charge you for the actual installation, was it just $100 to install and flash?

I have ordered from there 3 times and have had no negative experiences.

As a side note, it turns out they are fairly close to my house so everything I have ordered has arrived in a couple days!

I have been buying parts and things from them for 6+ years, always a positive experience. They are very quick to respond via email if there are any questions/issues with the order. The stuff I have received has been very well packaged.

I've used them...they're pretty fast in shipping and prices are reasonable.

Awesome! Thanks Guys! I'm not 100% comfortable installing it myself as it is my daily driver, though I do have a second car. Maybe I'll try SSR Performance in the OC and then bring it to a dealer to flash.

I have recently redone the interior of my car (and some changes under the hood). Had 3 major orders from them in the past 45 days.

They are actually BMW of Silver Springs (Maryland) just outside of D.C.

Once they understood that the parts would NOT match my VIN, we were good. Kudos to them for checking and advoiding potential issues.

As thus, I wouldn't be overly concerned about the number (providing you supplied correct info). You might have an old number. Then again, you did not post either part number here.

They also have a generous return policy. I have several very minor parts that Realoem indicated I would need and do not in reality. I intend to take them up on that.

The only thing I would advise NOT buying from ANY INTERNET SUPPLIER is BMW nuts, bolts, screws, clips etc. They are over priced enough from BMW, but even adding on to an order, internet sites will mark them up another 600%+ from MSRP as it's not worth the hassle to for them to deal will a 50¢ part. Easier to order through local Dealer.

shopbmwusa.com part # 11122444531
CF Exhaust Finisher part # 18302355889

getbmwparts.com part # 11122408981 (includes CF exhaust finisher for $270 or stainless steel tips included so part # not listed, if you search separately it comes up)

Probably it was an old part number or I can email them to confirm.

Yes, 8981 is the old part number. I am sure you could order the other number if so desired. Both are compatiable.

From your post, it appears the new number separates out the 2 individual parts where the old number has them as a package.

Okay, well if I'm ordering online it would be easiest to use the code on getbmwparts.com or just search for it after searching under my car model. The old number actually is followed by "+ Tips" in the description since there is a choice of tips but getbmwparts.com includes the stainless tips in the price. Thanks!

Good experience. Ordered the MPPSK from them in May and had local dealer install and flash with no issues. Ordered new part number but was changed to "old" number at order confirmation. Jason was helpful and answered my questions to ensure smooth install with local dealer. All checked out OK when it arrived vs new part number parts list. Definitely will buy from them again.

I Love the MPPSK! Neighbors not so much...

How much did the local dealer charge to install it?
