Best way to charge phone and keep visible
What have you all found to be the best set-up for charging your phone while driving but also keeping it visible? I like keeping the phone visible on the mount for texts, waze, jb4 app, etc but need to keep charging on long drives. I don't see a way to charge over USB in console or glove box and run the cable out to my mount. Am I missing something?

I forget that it's not standard equip on all cars. My bad.
Maybe try a battery phone case instead? Just use while in car, then remove so it's not bulky in your pocket. You can get cheap ones online, they should be good enough even if not as good as branded, counterparts.

I use a mount with an articulated arm which has a built in charger
so I can bring up Waze mostly for traffic alerts. It plugs into the cig lighter receptacle . The run about 25 bucks on line. |

You can't be plugged and use jb4 at the same time anyways.

You need to have the usb plugged from jb4 to the phone to use it. So how can you charge the phone while using the jb4 ? I want to figure this out also I want to be able to charge and use jb4 at same time.

I am using the JB4 Bluetooth Connect Kit. Not using any USB cables or ports.

You can buy it direct from BMS or you can buy from them through eBay. what you will get from BMS is a Bluetooth transmitter which connects directly to your Jb4 (140 bucks I believe). Then you need to buy the app for your phone, which for iPhone was another $28 I believe. When you install both you will then pair it like you do any other Bluetooth device. Pretty feature rich, code read/delete, map changes, settings changes, gauges, firmware updates, logging, etc. But overall, once getting over the cost, I am pretty happy with it.

did you check under your glove box for a 12V outlet?
Mine is a 2008 and I didn't have it, but went on Tischer and bought the color matched bottom panel that had the opening for a 12 V outlet, the 12V outlet and wired it to the fuse box in the glove box. put in a 12v to usb and voila! nice short run from there to the dash mounted phone. |
