It doesn't turn so don't try that, it will break. Remove the fan and that will give you more room to get your hands in there. You can also a wide head pry bar and gently wiggle it under the edge. If your replacing the t-stat and pump remove the pump out of the way first and that gives you even more room. Best of luck.

I think I know which you are talking about.
the Hose going from front of Thermostat?......right....the the biggest hose.

has the same issue.....
called a friend who happens to work at a dealer.....he did it in 2 min.
and another 20 min to do the rest.

ok.....so my 2 cents.
go to this Link:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_3972
look at connector near numbers 789 (the bottom goes to the front of the tstat.)
if you disconnect this........and 2 clips.....( right clip is easy.....left clip.....press the front of the clip to release it.)

then you should be able to just pull the tstat and the whole hose all the way.....from the bottom.

789 is just 2 bolts right under the OFH.

I had an extremely tough time removing it....and also installing it.
the tech who came over and helped me....he stated....they are tough, but gota know what angle to pull on it.
also when installing it.....he used a greese on on the connector to help it slide in.
it was German brand Dielectric Greese.

Remove your fan & FMIC. You'll get the room you need to remove the hose. It's probably just stuck on there from all the heat etc., over the years.

I was doing this job in the middle of winter and I left my space heater under the hose for a while when I went inside to take a break and contemplate how to disconnect it. Then I came back in 10-15 minutes, stuck a flat blade screwdriver up against the flat edge, found something to pry on, and it popped right off.
