Dinan FMIC review
Hello E90 post members, I recently bought a Dinan FMIC off of another user here on E90 post, his account is @R.G. . For reference, I went with Dinan because of the want for the badge (worth it or not, still want it lol) and my father has had nothing but good experiences with Dinan products on his E60 M5 and E28 M5. On the car before this, I had the AfE DCI, supersprint X-pipe, Dinan mufflers, a Dinan stage 1 tune, Dinan Camber plates, Bilstein PSS9 coilovers (off car ATM).
The IC is used so there were a few bent fins but not many. I have a guy who can fix them if needed but isn't that necessary right now. Install wasn't hard at all, just had to take the bumper off and cut the plastic shroud almost all the way around. I tried to make the cuts as clean as possible. Also having the ability to use the stock connectors helps a lot and saves in the cost department. The intercooler itself is much bigger compared to the stock one a hefty. Build quality is exceptional. Welds are solid and finish is amazing. Now I don't have temp logs for you all to look at since I don't have a Cobb Accessport. However, there is a noticeable difference is power delivery and boost when driving. I'm in SoCal so temps recently had been near or over 100F. Boost holds on much better and doesn't feel like it heat soaks at all unlike with the stock IC. It honestly pulls like a freight train when gassing it (butt dyno reading). I'm extremely happy with this mod/purchase and, again, would recommend this IC to other users. Yes it may be expensive and the "best IC for 335i" debate will rage on, I'll rep the Dinan IC because of this Last edited by Bushton335i; 07-19-2017 at 11:55 AM.. |

I don't know that my butt dyno is calibrated to detect anything less than about a 25hp change - probably couldn't tell the difference on this one. On the other hand, if I used my psychological dyno and had a clear view of the Dinan badge...I could probably detect a very significant change. But then again, I haven't had Dinan come out to calibrate the psychological dyno in a while.
