Rogue Engineering Exhaust

Ok guys, I finally got the exhaust installed this wed. My review:

Appearance: This exhaust 100% satisfied me on a purely looks basis. The cans are far less clunky and huge compared to the stock cans. It now does not look like the car has two giant testicles hanging onto the rear. The pipes themselves are huge and make the rear look so nice. The staggered look of the pipes is fantastic. In my honest opinion, aesthetically speaking, this exhaust is perfect and completely filled any void the stock exhaust left.

Sound: The sound clip on this exhaust does it NO justice. This exhaust is fucken loud!!!! My first stop after I got it installed was to two fellow BMW fanatics who usually critique the shit out of every mod, and to be honest, i was expecting them to complain about something (because thats what they do), but instead, both responded with "wow, thats pretty fucken loud and the cans look great". In my honest opinion, i sometimes feel they are too loud and wouldn't mind for them to be tuned down just a bit. I had a Supersprint exhaust on my old E46, and I thought was pretty loud and nice, but this one takes the cake. Its fricken loud! Its not obnoxiously loud for outsiders. The car actually sounds like a real sports car should, which is the most amazing feeling when you are going on spirited driving. However, when I am being lazy and just wanting to cruise around town, it is a little loud. I have changed my driving habits a bit. Maybe I had bad habits prior? I just try to push on the throttle a little harder now because if you just tap it at the low RPM's it drones.

Hopefully, when 155MPH comes and checks out the exhaust he can give me his opinions on it as well. Maybe what I think is too loud is not to others. Who knows. Either way, I do recommend this exhaust if you want to spruce up your sports car and make it sound the way it should. Nothing is better than dropping the top and just listening to it. Well, enjoy the pics!

Nope, no engraving. And I like it like that. I prefer not to have logos on my car besides BMW and M. NO absolutely no droning at 55+

How does the sound compare to the clip that RE has on their website? I know it's probably louder in person but is the sound the same?

You can't get a good sound clip by using a standard digital camera. i took a sound clip and it just does it no justice. ill post it if you guys really want, but in all honesty, it doesn't sound anything like the clip.

you of all people would love it. it sounds ferocious. and im not saying that becuase its my mod or because i am endorsing Rogue Engineering. I have no affiliation with them, and i'm honest with my mods. if i honestly didn't like it or fully approve, it would be off already.

pricing they aren't even sure of yet. said they won't be selling them til august.

August
I wish you could be more descriptive. Sound caharacteristics at low-mid-high RPM's, is it a deeper tone, anymore rasp to the sound, how much louder is it inside vs. outside, what is the diameter of the pipes, etc.... Just saying it's "fucking loud" doesn't make me want to buy it.

im sure it sounds great in real life. Vids dont do any justice to any exhaust systems. (unless its really loud in which its ridiculously loud in person) why does everyone keep asking?
The tips look beefy in the pics though. i like that
August? you have to be kidding me.
Do you drive your car at all blackM? your contis look brand new LOL.

When people ask about drone it really upsets me. Ive been in tons of cars with exhausts and drone happens with almost every exhaust system it just depends on where the tach needle is. My muffler bypass system is loud as hell and it drones when you pop it into 5th at 60 and go WOT. The whole cabin shakes actually. But if i sit in 4th and go quarter throttle you barley hear anything. Like blackM said he changed his driving habits to get rid of drone. optimum gears/RPMs=no drone.......... low speed/high gears=drone If your that worried about drone just get a un-res x pipe.

But anyway congrats on the exhaust blackM. Ill think about it as i am in the market for a civilized system now.

respect. i have about 4500 miles on the contis. How do you guys want me to describe the sound of a sport exhaust? It sounds like a sport exhaust lol. Throaty and mean.

btw, i tried to upload the video clip to youtube but for some reason it didn't do anything and i left it alone for like 2 hours. anyone know a good site to upload a 21 mb avi file.

Hahaha. Yeah I know, August is late, but it is what it is y'know. Yes, I am the beta tester.

Oh btw, I change my initial review of the exhaust. I honestly was driving this car incorrectly and thats why it was droning. The exhaust is very sporty and has a deep growl. The first few days after I got it, I was a little upset by the drone. But it was all about how I was driving the car. I now drive it correctly and it sounds amazing.

Basically, when I had the stock exhaust, I could get away with being in a higher gear at lower speeds because the exhaust was so quiet I couldn't even tell that it was droning. Since this exhaust is loud and sporty, it quickly lets you know if what you are doing is right or wrong. I have learned and I honestly think I am a better drive because of it. Just an FYI, i only learned how to drive manual a few months ago and that might explain the noobish initial driving with the exhaust. I highly recommend it and I am not getting paid by Rogue Engineering to say that

I still want the exhaust, hope it's really not until August before the rest of us can get our hands on one.

i have a sound clip but i was having trouble uploading it to youtube. its a 20mb file if anyone wants me to send it another way, PM me and we can figure it out.

just thought i'd share the reactions my mufflers got at the dealership. i went in to have a tire replaced (+1 on the tire protection package), and i went in to go look at the new m3. after playing with the cars for a lil bit i go outside to smoke a cig. they just finished my tire and i overhear 2 mechanics and a service manager discussing how nice the exhaust sounds and wondering where the owner got it. i certainly laughed and enjoyed the compliments. wish i had money for other mods, but this mod sure does make me happy haha

-Yet another Z4 M exhaust with no performance claims It's also pretty heavy compared to the other aftermarket options. But it seems well made, and RE is a good company for customer relations.
