Always keep a can of dust off around!
This may be an issue just for me. Twice now working on my front suspension and on both front left and right I had to remove the axels from the wheel hub. This time around I had to replace the front passenger side axel (not too bad of a job really).
But in both cases, the axel splines WOULD NOT go back into the hub. The first time around I banged the crap out of it and it got close but wouldn't slide all the way in. Ended up fubaring my bearings in the process. Right side, same thing.... but this time I didn't beat on it. I used DUST OFF! Glad I got extra bottles of the stuff. Just turn the can upside down and freeze the splines on the axel for about 30 seconds, all around it. It went from barely getting more than a 1/4 of the way in to sliding all the way. I didn't hear of anyone else having this kind of issue so I figured I'd post my fix. Hope it helps someone! |
