A BBC news article that I read last night reflected allegations from EU and German anti-trust regulators that BMW has been operating in a cartel with VW, Audi, Porsche and Daimler "for decades", colluding on price and technology.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if all the major car manufacturers have been using defeat software for years in order to pass/exceed emissions restrictions.

There's problems over at AUDI as well, they've halted production of some A4s with TFSI engines over them not meeting the co2 emissions they published.

a guy at work just had his s3 serviced which had an "emissions and performance enhancement" installed. He now says the performance is a bit pants unless he puts it into dynamic mode and the exhaust note is dulled, I would be well peed off if this happened to me!

From what I understand some of the software updates are to get rid of the 'lag' people are complaining about with the S Tronic gearboxes as well as emissions but apparently they're just fucking the cars up....
