e85 on 93 Octane Tune

Just a quick question, if I filled up with e85 would the car manage to deal with the fuel change with a 93 Oct map?

Is that the safe way to move from std fuel to e85?

I'm interested to give it a go

Also I'm assuming all of the fuel system on our cars is good for e85, with the exception of needing an upgraded LPFP if your going to run a hot tune, is that correct?

You can run a small amount of E85, around 7-10L is fine on the MHD OTS maps. There is enough margin in the fuel trims to support it (can be logged in MHD as STFT, or short term fuel trims). This amount of E85 is enough to bring up the octane and result in better power delivery (as the OTS maps are a tad too aggressive for our crappy 98 Australian fuel)

But the tune is designed for pump fuel so you'll max out the fuel trims if you add too much E85. The ecu needs to add more fuel as E85 has less energy content in it, but with the pump tune it will reach the maximum amount of fuel it will add, and can result in the car running lean. A real E85 tune will have the fuelling tables matched to E85 and add the required amount of fuel for the increased fuel demand.

Im currently running a stock car on a MHD stage one 98 tune. Would it be worth me swapping to a map that allows a bit of E85?

The MHD ethanol maps run higher boost to take advantage of the E85 so you really want to upgrade your intercooler and downpipes.
