LENT! What are you giving up?

What are you guys giving up for lent? If anything.

I'm giving up carbs and simple sugars. I'm going to eat 20grams (or less) of carbs a day and not eat anything with sugar in it.

My friend is giving up meat, soda, and junk food.

So we're going to try to get through lent together, and work out together. Wish me luck!

jesus went into the dessert for 40 days and 40 nights and he didnt eat or drink. something like that.. and he was tempted by the devil but didnt give in.

he died for our sins etc etc

so as "symbolism" i guess, during lent, christians give something up for 40 days.

the point of it, is to usually give up something we have in our life that is holding us back, something bad. my friends usually give up junk food, then eat it again once lent is over. it totally defeats the purpose.
