Wing mirrors driving me mad
Hi all,
It seems my wing mirrors on my 2007 335i have a mind of there own currently, every time I start it up I'm having to adjust them back to where I left them. I don't really use the folding function so I'm not fussed if that is disabled as well. Is there a specific fuse I can pull for this? I can't seem to find a definitive answer. |

has this just started happening or always happened? do you have memory seats and mirrors and the memory is resetting them when you unlock or start the car?

When I bought the car the previous owner had a few things coded as the seat assist was disabled and wing mirrors didn't move unless you pressed the buttons.
I recently got the car back from BMW and it seems they've reset the coding whilst replacing the hydro unit so ever since then the wing mirror has been moving itself. I do have memory seats. |

Just had a little play with the memory buttons and to see exactly when it's happening.
Notes: The passenger side seems to be working as it should, it will stay in the same position I leave it, only pivoting down for reversing unless I move the switch to the passenger side. The driver side is the issue, the mirror is pivoting downwards by a random amount once I turn the engine off and remove the key. It does not pivot back up once the keys are reinserted. |

It'll be corrosion on the internal connector pins. There's a DIY cure guide here:

Yip I had the same thing. Pulled off the glass, cleaned the connectors and it's been fine since

I did this DIY that Phil posted for you. Very easy to do, it's a 15 min job. Mirror has been fine ever since. One thing I would ask you to do if you decide to tackle this... When you disconnect the motor, instead of cleaning the connector pins could you just plug it back in and see if that solves your issue? There have been mentions that corrosion may not even be a factor but rather unplugging/plugging back in the motor causes a reset that solves this issue. If the issue is still existent after that then well know that cleaning is a requirement. |
