Hello all.

My 318d LCI e91 has the DPF light on but only on start up.
After 2-3 seconds it goes off and doesnt come back on until next time I start it. I've tried a 400 mile round trip and it still comes on.

Any ideas or tips I could try?

Also what are the symptoms of my car regening, are there any lights that shows up?

Find the secret menu on the dash (YouTube it) and make sure the car is getting upto temperature.

If the thermostat is stuck open it won't get past 75 degrees to enable a regen.

I had a 320LCi to which I'd fitted a dongle in the OBD port so I could see various engine parameters including engine and exhaust temperatures, so it was fairly easy to detect a regen, but without that, the only apparent change was a slightly more sluggish car and deeper exhaust note, but you're really going to have to pay attention to notice them.
