Gloss black grill DIY?

I searched but didn't see any DIYs posted. Has anyone installed the black gloss grills themselves? How easy was it to do?

Very easy to do.

Open up the hood. You will see slots to undo the locking tabs from the top of the kidney grill.
Use flat screw driver, press them in one by one while pulling the kidney grill out.
You don't need a lot of pressure or a pulling hard on the grill.
It comes off very easy.

Good luck.

Agree really easy, even I managed it in 3 minutes.....
Looks great in my opinion, small cost for big difference.

Its really easy to do. You'll see three clips up top, use a flathead screwdriver or something flat to release the clips. Then pull the grill off and put the new one on.

does it work the same way for the M550? I see that the grills have flaps that open/close.

M550 has the same grilles as the rest.

instructions for removal are as above. You will see that the opening/closing flaps are not part of the cosmetic grille that is removed; the flaps are on the car and undisturbed by grille removal.

I just changed my grills and man it literally took less than a minute pulled straight off , way easier than F10 grills

I have also changed side fender trims , did exactly as you said and less than a minute both off , will uploads pics soon

Thanks a lot mate

I prepped with scotch bright
2 x coats of plastic primer
2 x Gloss black coats

Finally got my grille...will try to tackle this tomorrow. Hopefully it's as easy as what everyone is saying. Wasn't all that straightforward on my F80 M3 even with an actual guide. And I don't even have a guide for this one. lol

is there a way to manually open/close the shutter grills?

since installing the double slated version i would like to test if it gets stuck or not...

or do i have to patiently wait till the engine heats up for it to automatically opens and then wait for it to cool down for it to shut.
