Best Brake Pads for E90?
Hey guys, I'll soon be doing a full set of brake changes.
So far I've gotten 2x Rotors for the front and they are the slotted StopTech rotors. I am trying to get some good brake pads for street performance(nothing related to track performance). What are some good ones yall can recommend me here? Idk what to go with ceramic or other ones. Cheers! |

Most of our customers including myself run the Hawk 5.0 with their Stop Tech Rotors.
If you want a little less dust and slightly less performance (still more then OEM), Hawk Ceramic are another option. |

Less initial bite than stock pads but also much less dust. Good stopping power but the performance didn't stand out to me particularly. By no means bad pads, you will stop confidently. Seems like an excellent choice for a daily driver. I just bought a new car and the previous owner had put on a new set of Akebonos which I immediately removed to install some Textars as I like the feel/initial bite of the OEM pads.

IMO a strong cold bite is necessary on a daily driver. |

Unless you do a lot of aggressive driving most people would agree that OEM spec pads are perfect for daily drive. These pads provide decent cold bite.
Pagid & Textar are very popular in UK |

Akebono is known to be a long lasting pad that is almost dust free. I have had several Akebono pads over the years on e46, e70 & e90. I don't think I would say they are race or street performance oriented. They do have almost the stopping power of the OEM semi-metallic pads.
I think you should look at cool carbon pads if you are looking at a performance type pad for street use. They are not cheap compared to Akebono in terms of price. Cool carbon does not have all the dust like the OEM pads. Maybe a little more than Akebono but Akebono is almost dustless. If you haven't installed the slotted rotors, consider cross drilled vs slotted. Slotted will wear down the pads quicker. I have Zimmerman cross drilled and I love them. |

I did Akebono pads with Meyles rotors for all 4 wheels and so far so good... I am happy with them. Low cost too.

Jurid and Pagid are other names to look at. Textar & Jurid may be the same company. |

I would agree with Hawk 5.0 - they can squeal a bit in the cold but nothing CRC cant fix.
I do a lot of mountain driving and they dont loose bite with repeated high speed braking like the stock pads.

We just released our new SPP 2.0 pads for the 335.
They are perfect for street performance. SPP 2.0 Sparta Performance Pad 2.0 (SPP 2.0) is designed for the individual looking for true high performance pads that emit relatively low noise for street use. Engineered with the driving enthusiast in mind, this padis more than capable of handling your daily commute, but will truly shine at your weekend autocross or High Performance Drivers Education weekend. The SPP 2.0 provides true confidence in your vehicle's braking ability in any environment. While increasing the initial bite to an approximate mu (μ) of 0.38-0.43, SPP 2.0 further widens the operating temperature range over SPP 1.0 by 60°C, up to 400°C, making it the ideal brake pad for the weekend motorsport driver. Key Features • High Initial Bite • Wide Working Temperature Range (up to 400°C) • Stable Cold/Street Performance • Tailored towards Trackday/Autocross Drivers • Stable and Predictable Torque Curve • High Levels of Control and Modulation • Moderate Dust • μ=~0.38-0.43 |

Can not recomend Hawk 5.0.
They brake quite fine but only holds for aprox 25k km for me. And when the shop took them off they came apart.... I will never have them again.....

If you are saying 25,000 miles or so, then no you don't need new rotors most likely. I assume you mostly drive suburb 2 lane roads or hwy. Stop & Go big city driving, I'd have them checked out first before making that decision.
