So I have read most of y'all are using hawks and stop tech. Did anyone try ebc red? Need suggestions since my brake pad warning light came on

I had EBC Redstuff on a previous car and I liked them, good stopping power and low dust. But several folks here have had problems with them apparently. I just bought StopTech Sport pads and will have them on my car next week.

I think the pads you choose should be based on the driving you do. Sport pads are generally more tolerant to heat, meaning you can get them hotter and they retain friction.
Is this a daily driver? Do you track/autocross ever? if no, stick with a street or OE replacement pad. If yes, but only occasionally, StopTech Sport pads or Hawk Track Day pads might be a better choice... or if you want race performance with good cold bite for street driving, PFC-01 pads are super popular on track and have decent street performance. Expensive and dusty... but hard to beat the performance. It all depends on what you want out of your choice. |

My brake light came up this morning. Does anyone use Akenbono pads? Akenbono is popular in the audi world.

I have the Akebono pads EUR918 in front and EU1170 in rear. They are quiet, low dust and good performance.
The Akebono pads may not have the more agressive initial bite as OEM pads. On my 335d, OEM pads were "Jurid 208ff" in front and "Textar" in the rear. |

Good thread. I have plenty of pad left on both ends but I hate how the stock pads bite, making it hard to modulate for daily driving.
I also absolutely hate the high amount of dust. I have gloss black wheels and after just one day of commuting the wheels look matte black due to all the dust. BananaClipper told me about the Akebono pads being an option so I appreciate montr's post and am curious who else runs them and what they also think.

I went with the hawks 5.0 but I'm not sure if they are the correct brake pads. They were listed as it fits but I had to dremel off the metal clips on the outside pads in order for them to fit. I have a 328 e92 xdrive. So far I feel like they are sorta mushy but then I've only had them for like 50miles.

Having just switched the rears only, I don't feel any difference, but there is so much more braking up front, that's not surprising at all.

I had the Akebono installed on my 2006,E90,325xi,automatic ,4dr sdn, back in 2011 at 36337k , now i'm at 103k and I am due for another change for my fronts and will use the same, dust was dramatically less, I don't drive my car hard, just my daily driver, but no complaints on my part.
