2011 turbo
Had my cars oil changed recently upon that an oil leak was brought to my attention. I have 71k on her and shes only 6 years old. The ASE Certified Master Mechanic is a friend of mine. He suspects the turbo may have some leak or even be blown. Was wondering what the warranty was on the turbo. Thanks in advance.
I will also be going to the dealer for an exact root cause of this oil leak. |

There is no warranty on the turbos. Unless you're in a CA emissions state where it runs to 8/80K. |

Turbo oil leaks on the N55 are not common. Valve cover leaks are more common. Before taking any steps to replace the turbo, you'll want to spend some additional time and money trying to find the source of the leak.
If the turbo was blown you would not be getting boost, performance would be very weak. Most of the N54 turbos had an extended warranty due to wastegate failures, not oil leaks.

Well an update to this is, oil leak is still a mystery, coolant started leaking after I got a coolant level low light came on, after that happened I checked the coolant res to find oil in the coolant res. She has been towed to my Indy shop for a diagnostic. She still starts and runs, granted I have NOT tried driving her as I don't want to make a potential bad situation worse.... If thats possible at this point?...... |
