225 Square Set-Up

I see a lot of talk here about the 245 square set-up ,but I am thinking about doing a 225 square set up.
My car is a 2014 M235i with staggered OEM tires/wheels. I've tracked it a couple of times, and am getting frustrated with how fast the tires wear out, especially the outside fronts. I have run OEM PSS and A/S 3+. i understand neither are optimum track tires and the best move would be dedicated track tires with camber plates.
My car is a daily driver that gets taken to the track probably 4 times a year. I consider myself a novice driver, skill-wise, with much to learn.
I have an HPDE class coming up in Sep, and I'd like to put fresh tires on for that event (the event is a 600 mile round-trip road trip from my house). I'm leaning toward springing for a set of rims to mount these tires on. I'm sold on a set of 4 18x8 rims with 40 mm offset, but trying to figure out the rubber.
I'm really impressed by the price of the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2s (a max performance tire). Quite a bit cheeper than the Michelins I have been running, and they are offered with a 100 rebate right now. Out the door on a square set (225 all around) would be about $100/tire. In my mind, I think that is pretty good bang for the buck. It goes up another $100 if I put 225 on front and 245 on rear. Is the extra 20mm of rubber on the back worth the $100 extra?
I have also started researching extreme performance tires, and the Fallen Azenis RT615K+ has caught my eye. Tire Rack has them for $130/tire. If I thought they would cream the Hankook's on the track performance-wise, and still be safe to drive on the street day in and day out, I would probably spring for a 225 square set of them as my summer tires.

So big questions:
1. 225 square vs 225/245 staggered? Big deal/difference on the track?
2. Max performance vs extreme performance. Which would you pick for daily drive, occasional on the track? Keep in mind, I'll keep a set of A/S 3+ on another set of rims for cold wx driving.

Thanks in advance.

you can run 225 with spacers, would be poking out just like a 245 but with less rubber on the road.

you would benefit more from a brake upgrade TBH, pads and fluid flush, lines.

Wreck the tires you have, than you can purchase something that will work on track and off. If you are buying dedicated track tires and wheels, go with 17's...

Lighter, tires are cheaper, and even if you decide to drop the car, you wont rub.

Good inputs. After some more research, I'm definitely looking at "extreme" performance summer tire options on dedicated rims as my next purchase.

Why would you use spacers? With the right offset, shouldn't I be able to achieve the same effect. I'm looking at Einkei Raijins, 18x8 with a 42 ET. My math tells me they will sit further out than the OEM setup.

I'll drive the extremes to and from the track, and use the A/S 3+ for DD. The A/S 3+ really is all I think you need for street use, but they have no place on a track. Can I expect the Extreme tires to hold up much better on the track or just perform better?

BTW, what 17 inch wheels do you recommend for a 245 square set up?

i have those wheels, what questions do you have?

You can run a 235 tire upfront and rear if you wanted without spacers.

You have the 18x8 Raijins? Running 235 square?

I'm beginning to lean toward a 17x8 245/40/17 square set up. Trying to find a 17x8 wheel that will work on the M235i w/o spacers. Rubber I like right now is the Hankook RS4.

My car is completely stock.

Looking for any wheel suggestions that will definitely work. Prefer to order through Tire Rack or Discount Tire.

Thanks.

I ended up going the 17x8 route with 245s all around. Decided on the RS4s. Now I just need to see if they fit, width-wise, as shortly after i ordered them from tire rack I found out the RS4 is about 1/2 inch wider than the RS3 which seems fit the car unmodified "just fine."

Thanks for the help.

I want to know too.

Looking for a 17 inch wheel square set-up that will work on car lowered on Dinan springs.

I just got done installing my set tonight. I ordered through Tire Rack and got the Hankook RS-4 245/40-R17 mounted on TR Motorsport C4 17x8 ET 40 wheels. No spacers. Car is bone stock. So far, so good. Gap between tire and strut is about the same as OEM.

Definitely go with the square 17's and the Hankook RS4s. When I had my 235i I ran a square setup with the 245 Hankook RS3s on all four corners. Tire wear is a ton less than the MPSSs. Plus you can rotate them to all four corners and after that you can turn them inside out. I was very happy with this setup. I also note that I didn't have any other mods.

Just got done doing an HPDE at Pueblo Motorsports Park in Pueblo, CO. Drove from ABQ, NM to Pueblo and back, plus four 20 minute sessions on the track. Very impressed with the performance and lack of wear. i'll try to do a full review soon.

Would you mind getting a pic of your wheel/tire set up from the front and rear so I can see how they sit with respect to the body of the car?

Also, any track day videos?
