E92 335d brake pad warning sensors

I recently tried to reset my brake pad warning sensors by mistake and I'm guessing they have tripped as the warning lights show up now.

I bought two new sensors and fitted these and still cannot reset the lights, all I get is ------- when I try to reset them.

My mot is due in a week and could do with getting these sorted, I planned to order new pads and sensors and try again, or cutting the wires and twisting them together but I'm not sure if either of these will work, I thought two new sensors would do the trick.

Does it need a computer etc to reset the warning light after they have been tripped or something?

Cheers, Craig

Tried to short the sensor by joining the wires together with no change, neither light will reset, any ideas?

How are you trying to reset the light? If there's a fault stored then it will need to be cleared first. What computer have you got to reset this?

I struggled with the same issue, my Carly/iPhone combo wouldn't clear it and had it done by a garage using a proper laptop.

I am just trying the usual way through the dash, with odo reset button and the bc on the stalk, seems like I may need to go to my local Indy see if they have a machine to turn it off.

Thanks for your reply

Just an update.

I went to my local bmw specialist, he said right away use genuine sensors or he uses pagid with no problems, we tried to plug the car in anyway and tried to reset it, it kept resetting to 255% rather than 100%, he told me to go to Euro car parts, get some pagid sensors and try that.

So off I went, fitted them both, hopped in the car and went about resetting through the dash, I reset the front successfully and in doing so it actually cleared the rear also, so no more lights.

Moral of the story? Avoid cheap sensors
