oil filter housing question

everyone who does this project, removes the oil line below....

then they separate the oil cooler and finally remove the three bolt and get the oil filter housing off the block. my plan is to separate the oil cooler from oil filter housing to replace the gasket but im going to leave the cooler hanging on the H-plate and oil lines, then get the oil filter housing off. is this possible? since the oil lines are flexible i rather not pull out the o-rings because i hear they dont fail often anyhow.

I would say the prongs fail often. My ornigs failed twice in 140k miles and were leaking from that very spot.

I don't disconnect the line if I'm replacing the oil cooler gasket. No need. Also, some engines have hex (regular head) and some socket cap (inbus) bolt.

There are 3 bolts holding the front of the cooler. Two up top & one right in the middle on bottom. It sits right behind the red circle you drew there. The oil lines get in your way when trying to remove that bolt. I usually just take off the lines and replace the orings. They're pretty cheap. You could reuse them if needed. Sometimes removing more takes less time & vice vera.

If it wasn't for that one bolt...
Or the bolt underneath the front of the intake manifold...
