CF roof fading?

I have seen many people who have installed aftermarket carbon fiber trunks and hoods but the problem is that after around 2 years the carbon fiber actually starts to crack and fade. What makes the CF on the M3 any different?

Are there any measures we can take to prevent this?

btw, my friend garaged his car but left it out in the sun from about 9AM-1PM everyday at work

I have wondered about the CF roof from BMW and if it would fade too.

If you read about the new ZR1 Vette, you'll see that GM has developed a very expensive liquid they apply to the surface of the CF parts on the ZR1 to protect it and keep it looking new under the sun's harmful rays.

I've never heard that about any other CF parts maker and wonder how the parts will hold up over time.

This really is quite an obvious part of product development. Cars do have to weather/wear suitably being outside all over the world and in places like Arizona. I have not heard one peep of a problem from M6 owners and I am sure the M3 components are as good or better.

this thread is a repost. it's been answered before, search.

basically no, it wont fade, if it does it's easily replaced and is warrantied. the clear coat on that thing is very thick. this is not an aftermarket POS you buy for 200 bucks
