Vernasca leather

I know some here on the forum have seen the new X3 at auto shows. Is this new Vernasca like a Dakota/Nevada?

I sat in the new X3 at the Frankfurt Auto Show and I personally think that the Vernasca was a step above the Dakota leather I have in my 440 GC and X1. It was more supple and I liked the texture better.

Thanks. It would be nice if it were a bit closer to Nappa, though that’s probably wishful thinking. Dakota/Nevada are durable, I guess, but I find it gets mistaken for synthetic since the surface is kind of hard and slick.

Agree. Hoping this new leather is better than Dakota but durable. I had a couple BMWs with Dakota and and a couple with Sensatec and it is like you are just paying extra for Dakota - they both feel like plastic. A more informed member said that leather quality is mainly based on grade and processing that make them different.

I was just looking at the auto show pics, I’m not convinced they have standard Vernasca leather, since the stitching is different than standard. The auto show ones have sort of a diamond quilt look. Looks more like the individual interior shots going around.

Yeah, this makes sense now that you mentioned it. The leather at the auto show had diamond quilting in the middle sections. This does make me wonder about the quality of the standard leather.

I've got Nappa in my 5'er and love it...Was hoping it was going to be an option that trickled down to the X3.

On the 4 series you can get Merino, which I like a lot. Wonder if Vernasca is similar?
