Doors mysteriously locking on their own...
...and the sunroof will shut.
Yesterday I pulled-up to a gas pump, shut the car off, unlocked all doors with lock button on the dash, got out, shut the door and made my way over to the pump. When I got to the other side of the car all the doors locked and the sunroof shut. I unlocked them with the key fob so I could get the gas door open and 5 seconds later all doors locked again. This isn't the first time this has happened...matter of fact it happens quite a bit. I've checked the settings on the iDrive Menu for something to keep this from happening and can't find anything. My hands aren't anywhere near the door handles to trip the comfort access locks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I checked the autolock settings - it's set to relock the car if it's unlocked and no doors are opened. I don't think there's any moisture in the keyfob...hasn't been any place to get wet.

Keyfob should not cause s/roof to close - sounds like a problem in the driver's door lock - if locked with the physical key and held in position the windows and s/r will close.

Yep. Sounds like a short and/or mechanically sticky part in the driver's lock actuator. Not super common but it happens often enough. I think they sell a pretty cheap kit with both front actuators.

My car was randomly unlocking the trunk. I noticed that when I was used the second key, I didn't have the problem. Turned out that the key I was using was defective.

Yeah, my first guess would be to check the battery in the key.

I second the battery condition in the key fob. My trunk wouldn't open randomly with it. Replaced the key fob battery (comfort access) and haven't had the issue since.

If you have an electric toothbrush, there is another option:
There is a "hack" of recharging the fob battery using a toothbrush charger (such as Sonic, etc). IIRC, you can simply place the fob on the toothbrush charging base and it will charge the fob battery.
