Residual Values in the UK

SHOCKING

This is dealer sort INFO.

Specced up to around £94k to give you an idea, it looks as follows:

24 months (10k per annum) = £45,046.46
36 months (10k per annum) = £37,665.46
48 months (10k per annum) = £30,835.47

Feck that, car's worthless after 48 months.

I'm not surprised for a couple for reasons.

M5 generally have high depreciation anyway
If the car is loaded with options, you don't get much back on the options

But yes agree, monetary wise, it s a lot of money.

Presumably the lease rates are high to reflect that as well.

Guess the trick is keep the car for longer to spread that depreciation out to reduce the money lost per year.

yep too much for me personally.

Those are list prices, how much discount (if any!!) would there be on a M5?

The low depreciation might also be taking into account what seems the norm today for BMW that they are heavily discounted from new.

When I picked up my 540i recently, dealer was telling me back when selling the E39 there was no discount until the last year of it's life.
Not sure thats correct personally as I got 2.5% off when I bought mine in 2001 but none the less, tehre is certianly more discount now than back then I'm sure.

I know not quite the same, but maybe the M550i is seriously worth a look. In the UK, from reading here, BMW UK decided to not bring in the 550i as it was deemed to steal sales from the M5. Can sort of see why!

Are the equivalents from Audi and Mercedes in a similar position as regards depreciation?

I would expect after the first Quarter 10K off the new M5, other high end cars from other makes also drop big time.
I will have a test drive Sunday but my 2017 M3 CP is as quick as I can go in any situation, the M5 would be "over kill" but very much more comfortable.
We will see .

I have obtained 9% discount on an f90 m5 . The dealer said finance would be at 5.9% so I am wondering if there will be a deposit contribution to factor in? My first M5 in 2012 was 73k discounted and 36k rv @ 36 months

Any options on the car are instant depreciation so spec wisely. The car is lovely great build quality - I?m going to wait until they discount also. I doubt for the first quarter they will offer discounts officially but after the first quarter usually 18%.

Sounds about right. Would assume 5-9% off initially, going up to 20% off after couple of years.

Great info, thanks!

Are these some sort of wholesale prices? The depreciation is crazy indeed, but I am struggling to imagine one could pick up a 24 months old M5 for this price. I reckon the dealers will mark it up back to 65 of so..
