Steering groan/vibrate when cold?

Car is a 2011 N51 328i auto.

I noticed that when I'm backing out of a parking spot and the steering wheel is turned to lock or nearly locked, there is a groaning sound accompanied by a very slight buzzy vibration. The issue only occurs during first start up when it's under 60 F degrees.

It goes away after driving the car for literally 1-2 blocks. I stop at a stop sign or red light and i turn my wheel to lock, and it's smooth as butter. No sounds at all.

I have already changed my power steering fluid (turkey baster method) 3 days ago with Prestone European Extended Life fluid CHF 11S. (Reservoir cap says CHF 11S is the required fill)

Anyone else have similar issues?

I have the same issues randomly, even when warm, sometimes, and it is super annoying. I also have turkey baster replaced my fluid with the proper CHS-11S.

In for more responses. I fear it is early signs of PS pump failure but lets hear it.

You might have air in the system.

Get the front on jack stands, start the car and turn the wheel lock to lock multiple times and add fluid as necessary.

Why does it have to be on jack stands? Can't I just turn the wheel and add fluid while in park?

Rumble, Vibration, cold

I too am having this. It only happens when it firsts starts cold and at very little basically just coasting speed while backing or coming out of the driveway. It shakes the steering wheel and you can feel the vibration through the entire car. Once car get going for a bit its pretty much ok. You wouldn't say there was any problem once its been driven for a while and never happens while at regular speeds. I first replace the fluid... No change. I replaced the Power Steering pump.... no change. I'm guessing the only thing I have left is the Rack & Pinion but its so costly I want to make sure I'm not missing something. I've seen some people have trouble with the steering thrust bushing on the rack and its very easy and quick to replace but i'm not sure in my case its that. its not a steering wheel from side to side motion thing its more of..... well..... if i continue turning it to one side or the other i feel this vibration throughout the turn, once I let off the steering turn it stops. It's only while under load of the turn and again only while stopped or very little speed and cold. I've also replaced the strut tower support bearing, change trailing thrust arms, two new hub bolts. I DON"T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. the Rack & Pinion is the only thing left i think.

I've never been in an e90 that didn't do this. IMO it's normal.
