recently i purchased a 2007 650i (i know wrong forum but i find e90post to be the most knowledgable one around). I had it flat bedded to my house since it was not running at the time of purchase.

the red steering wheel lock, brake light, and airbag light are the only lights that come up on my dash. when i put the key in and press start (without brake) i do not get the accessory lights, the dash just turns off *see video*

The only thing that seems to work are the dome lights and head lights. initially the windows went down, but would not go back up. car won't lock electronically, really no power seems to be going to anything, but the jump terminals read 12.5v and the battery reads ~13v


Im pretty well versed in coding and INPA, but since i can't get into ignition 1, i can't read the codes and diagnose it!!

any ideas?!?! so far i changed the battery, disconnected IBS, and checked fuses

I'll start looking into replacing the steering column

I guess the part I'm having trouble understanding is how this ELV fault can prevent the windows, convertible top etc from working 😐
