BMW Wireless Charger Supports iPhone X

Apple published a list of car manufacturers with wireless charging compatible with the iPhone X and 8 and BMW is among them.

I bought an 8 Plus on Sunday. I hope it charges in the M40i.

Should work fine. Both adhere to the Qi charging standard.

I guess I'm worried about the size of the phone fitting the charger.

Just tried out the wireless charging tray in the ‘18 X3. It charges the Galaxy Note 8 just fine, so I would think the plus Iphones will work as well. X will have no trouble. Plenty of space.

I drove an M40i today and my 7plus fit great in the charging dock. It was so perfect I actually left it in there after the test drive.

LOL. That's my biggest fear with the wireless charging feature. I just know I'll forget and leave my cell phone there more than once. And also why using the car to charge a display key (if I ever had such a thing) seems dangerous as well!!

BTW, there is an option to: “set an alert when your mobile phone is still in the pocket and you are about to exit the vehicle. Go to My Vehicle>iDrive settings>Wireless charging tray>Forgotten cell phone alert.”

I wish they made one of these alerts to remind me in the morning when I leave my apartment to take my keys, wallet, phone, briefcase, lunch money ...

You can configure idrive to 'bong' and let you know the phone is still in the car when you turn off the ignition. (If it was wireless charging).

Handy

Yeah, it does 'bong', but I don't really seem to notice that. New car that is already making different noises when starting up and shutting off, so it doesn't seem out of place. I need a voice recording shouting, "Hey dummy, you left your phone in the car!"......though I do have a wife....

Maybe Siri can say “don’t leave me!”.
