N54 valve cover gasket

I had my Indy replace the VCG last week, the next morning I had a look & a feel around checking for oil, when I put my hand under the heat shield towards the back of the engine my fingers came out oily.
I cleaned the area up with a rag as best as I could. From then on I've been feeling around there after I've used the car & have continued to get oil on my fingers from the same area despite wiping it down every time.
Today I took the car back to my indy & showed the tech the area in question. After the tech had apparently looked around with an inspection mirror I was told there is no leak from the VCG & the oil I'm finding is just residual from the previously leaking VCG.

There is no sign of oil on the top of the heat shield its just at the back of the block under the heat shield & above the manifold.

What are your thoughts, could this just be left over from the leaky VCG or is it that they haven't seated the new gasket correctly?

Is the oil filter housing gasket leaking? Are you sure?

And is the valve cover cracked? Are you sure?

OFHGs have been replaced & are definitely not leaking, valve cover is not cracked.

Should stay clean. one are to check is around the PCV Flapper. it can leak onto the top of the VC. the way is angled, it will drip to the back of the VC then round its way to the passenger rear side just over the bank 2 manifold or drip down the O2 wires.
