Points on licence

I've just checked the DVLA website and it states that the 3 points I have for speeding Expire in Feb 18 and Removal in Feb 19.

For my insurance renewal in March, do I still declare them?

Yes but explain they are spent and you are waiting for them to be removed.

Insurance will use any excuse not to pay out.

Insurers normally ask for convictions in last 5 years so you will be telling them for a while....

Just declare the exact truth.

Everybody has points these days - I got an SP50 18 months ago. Just saw the copper on the bridge on the (empty) road up to Scotland one morning at the last moment and slowed down, but still got clocked ay 89 mph. Anyway, seems to make virtually no difference to the policy and amount paid.

Just renewed mine with LV and it actually came down by £20 this year - and thats going from a 325 to a 330d

Ah the welcome to Scotland cash machine - I got similar back in 2009. At the bootom of a hill as you bend round a little to the left if I recall - M74 - so you were perhaps going a little faster than usual and were less likely to see them.. in my case a beautiful morning and about me and myself on the road...

it was 08:20 on a 3 lane motorway with me in the inside lane and just a couple of other cars in sight.

There must be better uses of taxpayers money than a copper and a car, probably costing us all £100,000 per year. We are easy targets.

Caught slowing down from +89mph? Justified IMHO.

Might be OK where you come from but as a visitor in another country you should be a little more respectful

Not everyone has points on their licence - I’ve never had any in 23 years

Careful. You can’t say things like that here. Tengocity will throw an eppy.

If you speed and get caught then it's justified - however, I do think that camera is positioned for cash generation not to improve safety. Thankfully I don't have to make that journey every other week like I used to!!

I was similarly smug after 19 years without a ticket, only to get an NIP through the post a few days after committing to giving up my company car and buying my own...
