New F36 LCI: LED headlights question?

Hi folks,

Recently picked up a F36 LCI with Standard LED lights. It also has 5ACA High-beam assistant.

What I'm puzzled about is why the inner lights seem to not be working.
What do others think?

Sidenote: to be honest I really miss the adaptive xenons I had on my previous 335D. Oh well...

The inner lights aren't actually functional, they just have the angel eye ring that lights up

They are on mine too! But on my 4 series with the projector xenons, they were not functional.

Yes I knew they weren’t on xenons, but I assumed all LED’s did use both!

Regarding the OP , I think these are still xenons with blacked out casing so the inside would be blank, the adaptive led lights are optional extra and look like this which my friend has and both light up

Xenons are definitely not available on the 4 LCI, there's standard LED or adaptive LED.

My LCI 4GC behaves in the same way and they are definitely LEDs (says so on the housing) and not xenons.

cheers for the info.
'Working as designed' I'm hearing.

I might have a crack at retrofitting the adaptive LEDs in the future. Hopefully the price will drop a bit

I think like my wife's mini that they are projector lenses rather than reflector like the f30.

I wonder if they produce enough light then, particularly in the foreground?

Not checked my inner lights - you have piqued my curiosity now :-)

Oddly, I don't really miss the Adaptive Xenon lights from my 335d! Yes, they were nice, but I can live happily without them.
I recall that the inner lights only operated as headlight flasher on the 335.

And another thing....
I'm used to the xenon lights being self levelling - are the LED one self levelling? I haven't seen them move yet.
I'll have to see when I get the caravan on the back!!

See if you can park your car up in the dark facing a wall, switch it off and then start it up again with the light switch on automatic/adaptive setting and you will see the beam pattern moving on the wall. It's a 'self checking' function of the light units to make sure all the 'motors' inside are operating so that the automatic levelling will work, moving the lights in response to the two 'attitude' sensors the car takes its readings from!
