Hope it's not a repost but I just came across this video on youtube
Not the best sound quality especially during the revvs but cold start sound impressive.
Stance of the car is also much improved with the the M suspensions... shame we can't option that during the config

enjoy

Awesome, thanks for sharing!

Good sounds from the M Performance Exhaust system. No doubt that this system is still being designed by Akrapovic. Sounds like they made it more aggressive than the one they did for the F10 M5, but also I am wondering if the new exhaust sound button on the inside of the car is now playing a greater role in loudness of the exhaust, especially on the M Performance exhaust.

Either way, it definitely sounds much more aggressive than the F10 M5 with it's M Performance exhaust. Good job to Akrapovic and BMW!

We can't be so sure that the new MPE is made by Akrapovic since the F8x MPE isn't made by Akrapovic anymore.

Sounds good, but now I'm confused. This seems to be called "M Performance Sport Exhaust". Is that different that the "M Sport Exhaust" that's optional on the M5 option list? So are we saying that you now have 3 exhausts to choose from?
  • Standard Exhaust
  • Optional M Sport Exhaust
  • M Performance Sport Exhaust

Check out the screen grab from page 13 on the UK price list below. It shows the "M Sport Exhaust System" as a GBP1,100 option.

I have a connection at BMW head office and asked him about the exhaust.
There will be 3 options. First two you can choose from factory. The third one M Performance exhaust it's a M product you order separately.
It's 99.99% and not 100%
If you look at the first Edition M5's the frozen red ones in the option list as a feature it says that it comes with sport exhaust but doesn't look anything like M Performance exhaust like the video we saw a few days ago.

When I heard it was titanium I knew it wasn’t that $1300 factory exhaust for sure. They charge what, 5k for the m3 exhaust and 9k for the old full Akra f10 m5 system so I expect pricing to be between those two.

Yes 3 exhaust options. M Performance Exhaust is different than Sports Exhaust System.

Not sure if American market will only come with Sports Exhaust option though. I'm willing to bet it will.

Gonna disagree there, I think with launch cars you'll have the option of normal and sports exhaust. Then with competition package the sports exhaust will be standard.

Thanks for the info! It does look like 3 options makes sense considering the pricing somer mentioned. My order for February production was placed with the M Sports Exhaust, the car is already too expensive for me to add a few thousand for the MPE

We have no idea what the competition package will entail. All that we know so far is that the CP is coming summer of 2018 and will probably include Carbon Brakes as standard. I don't know BMW's strategy is this time releasing the Pre-LCI M5 with a Sports Exhaust option.

Nice! They'll charge an arm and a leg for this exhaust but still worth every penny!
