Eagle f1 assymetric tyres
Guys,
I have the run flat versions on my car and can't believe the mileage I've got out of them, circa 30k!. Are the non run flats just as good? Thanks |

Yep, got non run-flat AS2's on my F31 and both the performance and wear is very good; the set have done over 20k miles and all four still have over 5mm of tread left!

Have these in RF form on my current car and also got over 30k on them, I was very surprised. When I change to none RF's on my next car I will definitely be considering these if they're just as good

Only downside from AS2 > AS3 is less rim protection.
On the 225 fronts on 19" staggered wheels on an F3x that's a bad thing as they look easily kerbable. Also I'd argue the sidewalls feel substantially less robust too. I had an AS3 fail while just a week or so old, with a pinch and puncture on the sidewall. Might have been a one off but I'd say I'm a tyre tart and wasn't hugely impressed with the physical AS2 > AS3 changes. However they are quieter and smoother running. Might try F1 AS3 RFT next then |

My personal experience of Eagle f1 assymetric 2 NON RUN FLAT tyres is that they were rubbish. So bad they made my E92 335d (re-mapped) unable to put the power down even in the dry. I thought they were fake ones so I took them back and got the verified as real ones.
They are the only tyre I have ever removed with almost full grip on them. I got Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 and they were an amazing tyre - especially in the wet. I had F1s on other cars and been happy with them, but I guess they just could not handle to torque from the 335d (700Nm). So I wont be getting them again. |

High torque at engine just means longer gears, so similar torque at wheels to any similar powered vehicle.
How long did you run them? They're arguably not a super grippy tyre, but they're up there for sure with the best combo of all weather and good summer performance, with good life and good mpg and low noise. But in my experience tyres are really subjective. Some people love tyre A bit hate B, while others it's vice versa. But without trial tyres it's an expensive risk trying new tyres! |

+1 !!! I had them on my 435i and was impressed with the grip and definitely how quiet they were. Wear rate was very good as well despite being a softer compound than other makes of tyre.
The only thing to be aware of though is the dreaded potholes, the sidewalls on the F1s do not seem as robust as other makes and I had to change two of mine because of 'eggs' on the sidewall, gutted as well as on both occasions they had about 6mm of tread left on them! No effect on the suspension or wheel alignment from the potholes so that was encouraging! Got Bridgestone Potenza S001s on my new car and they feel more substantial than the F1s but they are much more noisy so not quite sure what I'll do when it comes to replacing them when they're worn? |

Best tyres I’ve ever had. Used them for years when the GSD3 variant was around. Driven to the Nurburgring amongst many other tracks with them and then tracked it and driven home. Not many tyres you can do that with! Great value, road noise, stopping distance, traction. Evo magazine rated them the best tyre a few years ago which got me into them.

F1 Asym 1, 2 and 3 have all been better in every way I think, bar price, but the price per mile is likely better due to wearing behaviour. Agree maybe on grip at low tread. I ran my F1 to near bald at the back once and they were slippy but arguably they were worn out. Between new and say 2.5mm they're stunning. |

I'm sure there are other good tyres out there and the AS2 is now a relatively old design; however, personally I'd have no hesitation in fitting Goodyears again. |

I have these on my 335d and 3 other cars in the family and highly rate them and currently would not fit anything else to my immediate family’s cars.

Has anyone run rft and standard AS2 or AS3?
I'm assuming there is a difference, and standard will be best, but is it a stark difference or subtle. I'd really like to keep rft because it's a family car, not a toy... but at the same time if AS3 rft are just as bad as any other rft then maybe it's pointless going out specifically to get some over other rft. |
