Watching this woman from my office car park. First of all she attempted to use her nails to claw off the ice.

Then she got in and put the wipers on top speed.

I shouted: "Do you want some de-icer." Offering to toss my de-icer over.

She shouted back: "No it's okay. The wipers are not working may be I need new ones." Then she drove off on her school run like a tank commander peering through this little hole she had clawed.

It's not just women though. My neighbour is a wool head as well and he does much the same.

Because I'd have to have it but they give me migraines...

I'll happily keep my heated wheel though

If you have to keep your car outside, a heated windscreen is one of the best extras you can have. It's worth more than most add on's that we specify. But like you I cannot understand why major manufacturers do not offer it on all models

The heated screen on our XF is horrible. It has these tiny grid lines that can make you dizzy. Thankfully it is a courtesy car and we shall be shot off it this week.

Yeah I would not choose a heated screen - had one in my old Focus ST and couldn't get on with it.

Not tried one of the new laminated types though like they have on VW's....

The amount of people you see driving with the car completely frosted or snowed up is stupid. I don't drive anywhere until all my windows are clear. It only adds another couple of minutes ffs...

We had a XF a few years ago and before that a Freelander 2. Both had the heated screen. I never noticed the heating elements. I only saw them if I looked for them. The rest of the time, nothing.

Funny how we see different things.

Years ago I had a Fiesta with a heated screen - best thing ever - until I got a heated steering wheel of course!

No problems here, set the pre heating for 6.30 and it was warm and toasty and all windows nice and clear.

How long do you leave it running for before you get to your car?

Will have to try it again, it never seemed to do much when I tried it last winter just seemed to be moving cold air around the car, nothing that would clear a iced up windscreen. I thought you needed a Webasto style diesel heater to get the car warm enough for that. Think I will invest in a Swedish ice scraper for this winter, expensive for a bit of plastic but they're supposed to be very good.

Had a heated screen in the V40 which was convenient but not particularity quick, don't find the F30 much slower to clear without the heated screen.

I see, that makes sense thanks. Benefits of electric cars, that would be nice up here in the winter.

First use since March of the diesel powered aux heater in the X5 this morning. All windows were defrosted and it was nice and warm inside, one of my favourite features at this time of year!

I dont have any problems in my car provided its a light-ish frost. Like this morning, fire the car up, blowers on full, get out, lock the car and come in the house for 5-7 mins.

Go back out, all clear.

I'm sure the neighbours don't mind the car idling on the drive.

Yes, the 330e. It's plugged in when on the drive so I can set it to pre-warm (or pre-cool in summer), without depleting the battery.

16 months and 30k miles in with a PhEV and they make so much sense to me. We absolutely would always want one in our household, and I've now had a fast charger fitted to the house.

Same here, had an XF and only saw the elements if I looked for them. Never once remember seeing them whilst driving. I'd definitely have them on any car where I could.

Big topic of discussion on XF forums as I remember, majority don't see them, but those that do can't stop noticing them however hard they try. Anyone ordering would be best to try first.
