ACS Sports Suspenion vs M Performance.
Having gone from runflats to normal tyres (Michelin PS4S) the suspension has now become a lot more softer. With the increased grip I’m getting more body roll also. Feels almost like an SE.
I am no fan of lowered or slammed cars. Ideally I want to retain stock height but get a firmer setup. I belive ACS and M Performance offer the least drop. Also Eibach springs offer a very low drop but would need dampers to match them I’d rather buy a matched kit that has been properly developed. KW is out of the question. Thoughts on ACS sports kit drop vs M Performance kit also costs for the latter? ACS seems to be around the £1450 mark iirc. |

Why is KW out of the question?

I’ve gone from the standard m sport suspension to the ACS sports kit (springs and dampers) on my 330d s Drive. For my car the drop was very subtle, most noticeable on the front, barely any at the back. This is what I hoped it would do because now it’s evened out front/back.
The kit is no firmer or less uncomfortable than the standard setup, but it’s a hell of a lot more composed and controlled over potholes, broken and uneven roads. There’s no crashiness and the car just rides so much nicer. With regard to body roll, there is no difference to the standard setup. I will be doing the rear ARB mod (taken from the M140 I believe) as soon as funds allow to address body roll. Hope this helps. I’ve got a thread somewhere with pics of the car after installation of the ACS which I’ll post a link up later. |

Oh, as part of the install I had 12mm spacers fitted all round. This is more for aesthetic reasons and gives the car a wider, squatter stance and the wheels fill the arches better. Not essential though.

Ride height seem low and I am not looking for coil overs ( my favourites Ohlins are also out of the equation)
Looking for a fast road/sport setup rather than a track focussed one. Also been looking at the Birds kit which looks like Bilstein B12 and Eibach springs but double the price. Last edited by YR430D; 11-07-2017 at 04:44 AM.. |

One of the other options I was looking at quoted £1500+vat for fitting that in itself was enough to look elsewhere. |

What you want is Bilstein B16 Komfort.
Retains stock height if you want (lowers about 20mm on lowest setting) and dampers are adjustable to exactly what you prefer. Awesome kit for the money. |

Ive done the B16 Bilstein kit. Mine dropped around 30mm but still isnt stupid and is nowhere near close to any speed humps etc. I have it set on the softest damping setting and its still plush yet firm. Also done H&R ARB kit. Bilsteins cost me circa £1500, ARB £350, fitting £300 and 4 wheel alignment and headlight datum reset £135. Transforms the car.

And they're not even the B12's. B6 or B8s I believe, and they're not Eibach springs either. However, to be fair to Kevin, these are custom valved and set up for British roads.

A bit more than if you just went out and bought Eibach springs and some Bilsetin dampers perhaps (not sure as haven't checked), but it depends on what value you get from the extra effort put in to actually testing the set up on the car, and on UK roads, and how important it all is to you.
If I hadn't got a set of ACS RS coilovers for half price then I would likely have gone for the Birds set up.

Anyways I have changed my mind again after doing a lot of thinking. Going for the Eibach B12 Pro Kit. £450 delivered brand new can’t refuse for that sort of money.
