Auto box on 435d, why does it change up in manual

Can i check with others, as not long had car.
In my m235 auto when im over in manual sport mode when i plant foot to floor the car does not try and change to higher gear. BUT in this 435d when im in sport manual mode if i plant foot the computer takes over and knocks it up to higher gear, WHY?? if its manual i should be one that decides if i wanna change gear. its ok going up through box on paddles but as soon as foot goes to floor boom it changes down to higher gear...really annoying.

Always was Sport+ only, in the F3x models. Unless a recent change, has to be in Sport+ to override kick-down.

Simple answer for Sport mode, don't use kick-down, just use WOT.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! M140i before the 335d and it didn't change
Up in manual either regardless of mode.

You do both mean change down don't you? i.e. kickdown from M4 to M3 or 2?

Sport+ stops that, but it will still change up at the red line.

I thought Sport+ would let you bang of the redline if you didn’t change up? If you were that way inclined anyway. I have heard s lot of people say it turns the box to 100% manual operation. I’ve never wanted to try it.

But doesn't that only apply when engine is at normal operating temp🤔 May be wrong but thought ecu still takes over regardless if it senses engine could be damaged..?

Doesn't the following work:

Stick left, sport mode, use the paddles to put into manual and from then on manual mode isn't overridden?

There's really no need to red line a diesel anyway you gain nothing from it : I understand you want full control but what is it you're after by redlining it?

i didnt wanna red line it, hence me wanting to know i can overide it as it kept kicking down where as i prefer to stay in gear and use torque lower revs
